Second Chance Toys' Feature Volunteer
AnnMarie Arlington has been a great supporter of the Second Chance Toys mission. She has volunteered her time at many different SCT collections by bagging, tagging and cleaning the toys.
As a crafter and seamstress, AnnMarie is a big advocate of not being wasteful. She uses recycled materials to create her projects and always tries to reuse materials in any way that she can.
When we asked, “Why SCT?” she responded, “Reusing, repurposing and recycling toys to help children, all while helping the environment at the same time…it’s a no-brainer.”
AnnMarie also noted that volunteering with SCT isn’t a difficult task. “Volunteering wasn’t overly time-consuming and I still felt like I was lending a hand. It was an easy opportunity and SCT was open to any time that could be committed. That was wonderful, especially since I don’t have a lot of time to make big commitments, I still felt like I was helping.”
We asked AnnMarie if she had any suggestions that might make the process better for our volunteers, “Maybe to put signs up for the different stages of the collection process so that the people donating know what to do when they arrive. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to becoming more involved in many collections to come!”
Thanks AnnMarie, for helping children, the environment and our team members here at Second Chance Toys!
