Hasbrouck Heights Green Team's Toy Drive Yields Scores of Toys
It was a record haul for the second annual Hasbrouck Heights Green Team's Toy Drive.
The group collected 45 boxes and bags of unwanted toys, in addition to larger plastic items like play kitchens, workbenches, play sets and slides, and toddler learning toys. Donations came from Hasbrouck Heights, Wood-Ridge, and as far away as Glen Rock.
The group collected toys in conjunction with the non-profit Second Chance Toys. According to its website, the organization's mission is "to rescue and recycle plastic toys for children in need by donating them to community organization," thus keeping non-biodegradable plastic out of landfills. This year that group matched the Hasbrouck Heights drive with Children’s Day Preschool as the recipient of the toys.
